Аннотация:The paper deals with the problematic question of the impact of selecting Russian realities in textbooks on the formation of ideas about Russia. It compares the approaches in universal and nationally oriented textbooks for Czech students at the elementary level (A1), with a focus on linguistic realities and their motivational function. The study's results on Czech students' knowledge of Russian realities are particularly interesting, and they are compared with the material presented in the textbooks.
