Аннотация:DOI 10.31453/kdu.ru.978-5-00247-084-6-2024-400 In this article, for the first time, an attempt is made to analyze the theme of love in the poem“The Amazing Wizard” by the Czech poet Vitezslav Nezval. The researchers of the Soviet period obviously had other tasks, and as for their followers in the post-Soviet period, it seems that the tradition of perceiving the poem exclusively in the key of revolution and glorification of the working class played a role. The article analyzes allusions to the image of the goddess of love Aphrodite and her attributes, images of a nun (mother of a magician) and a lake nymph and related Christian and pagan motives of love. A special place is occupied by the analysis of the fifth song “Love”. The text clearly traces the Christian and pagan understanding of love. But they coexist in the poem not as opposed, opposite-polar loves, but as the embodiment of the same love in different “faces”.
