Аннотация:The theory of paraxial beam propagation in periodic structures consisting of layers with alternating signs of the refractive index was developed. The condition of diffraction divergence compensation in negative refraction layers, resulting in beam propagation as an oscillating waveguide, was found. The photon dispersion of such a medium was analyzed. The effect of transverse diffraction on photonic bandgaps was considered.
