Аннотация:In a paper surveying the status of automated soils mapping in the former Soviet republics, the authors outline tasks, areas of progress, and obstacles to further development. One focus is upon description of methods and equipment in use at Moscow University and another is upon reporting the results obtained in their application to a specific project—the study and mapping of the soil cover of the Volga area and Caspian basin and soil and soil-geochemical maps for Moscow Oblast.
