Аннотация:To gain an insight into the effect of phase modulation of pumping and probing laser pulses on the shape of signals of femtosecond "pumping-probing" experiments, these experiments with frequency-modulated pulses (chirps) were modelled numerically for I 2. It was assumed in calculations that (a) the envelopes of the pulses were Gaussian in shape, and (b) the frequencies of pumping and probing pulses were modulated linearly and cubically, respectively. Cubic chirps may arise, when probing pulses are generated in a frequency-doubling cell. Carrier frequencies and pulse durations accepted in calculations were typical for experiments with I 2. It is established that a linear pumping chirp has but a little effect on the signal shape in a "pumping-probing" experiment. Cubically modulated probing pulse, on the contrary, conduces to a conspicuous decrease in the signal modulation amplitude at all interpulse times and alters dramatically the shape of signal envelopes at long interpulse times.
