Аннотация:THE DESCENT INTO THE UNDERWORLD IN THE ANCIENT POETRY
In the ancient Mediterranean area katabasis, the descent to the underworld, is the most popular mythological model for constructing epic plots. The basis of such a narrative originated from the idea of a night journey of the Solar deity along the rivers of the underworld to resurrection and regeneration. This idea is completed in an ancient Egyptian story "About the things of the other world " (Maspero, Bible, Egypt ll 1893). In the heroic epic such a model transforms into wandering of a hero about the underworld in search of friends and beloved people (Gilgamesh, Osiris, Ishtar, Isis, Theseus, Hercules, Venus). In the Homer's epic finally another goal finally appears the encounter with the prophet of doom - Odyssey, later Aeneas.
Odyssey that obeys all Circe's orders has to serve her seven years before his epiphany leaving his double in the underworld as a ransom. A number of ancient texts on descents to the underworld will be subjected to analysis from the positions of nomadology.
