Аннотация:A new catalytic method for the synthesis of alkyl (S,S)-O-lactyllactates, HOCH(Me)C(O)OCH(Me)CO2R, 1–10 (R = Me, Et, n-Pr, i-Pr, n-Bu, i-Bu, i-Am, allyl, Cy, 3-HOC6H4CH2) was developed. Aluminum chloride catalyzes the reaction between L-lactide and a range of aliphatic alcohols under mild conditions. Corresponding alkyl lactyllactates may be isolated in high yields after distillation, what allows to perform separation from traces of corresponding lactates. It was established that AlCl3 reacts with alcohols with concomitant production of HCl and Al alkoxide complexes (like 11), which are both catalytically competent species for the alcoholysis of lactide.
