Аннотация:International space law is a relatively new branch of international law. Even though writings referring to an outer space law appeared as soon as 1910, it is only in the second half of the 20th century that its study and development became systemized.
From the 1960s onwards, and under the instigation of the United States and the USSR, space law was formally developed within the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (hereafter “COPUOS”) (Section 1). Afterwards, due to a progressive privatization of space activities, States adopted special national legislations based on the main principles defined in the international order, and in some instances even went beyond them. (Section 2).
