Astrophysicists at Moscow University have identified the mass of a black hole in the center of the galaxy Messier 87 (M87). In April 2019, the first ever photograph of this supermassive celestial body was presented. Then, scientists from the EHT (Event Horizon Telescope) project said that the mass of the object is equal to the mass of 6.5 billion Suns. Domestic experts rechecked this data using an innovative method of scaling spectral characteristics and found that the mass of the black hole in the M87 is more than 100 times less than the declared one.
