Efficient CO2 utilization is now one of the most important challenges for the world because of global warming. Transformation of CO2 to valuable products can not only reduce its amount in atmosphere but also integrate new chemical technologies into the industry and develop new approaches to the production of the well-known compounds. There are several routes for large-scale CO2 utilization such as formation of formic and salicylic acids, methanol, light olefins, fuels. CO2 methanation is one of them and allows production of synthetic natural gas and transform hydrogen to safe and more transportable condition. Usually, Ni and Co catalysts are using for methanation while Ni is cheaper and show higher activities due to its better hydrogenation activity. In this work we propose the family of biomass-derived Ni-based catalysts for CO2 methanation and rice husk (RH) was used as biomass source. There is still a challenge to effective application of rice production wastes and our work proposes the combined approach to adapt such agricultural waste for the CO2 utilization problem solution.
