Аннотация:A field experiment was conducted to study the initial stages of chloritization (aluminization) ofsmectite (fraction <1 μm) with various composition of interlayers in the AELoa horizon of the podzolic soilin the course of current pedogenesis. Application of XRD analysis coupled with the simulation of experimentaldiffraction patterns led us to a conclusion that during one-year incubation in the soil, Na-smectite waschloritized, and the degree of Na–Al-smectite chloritization increased. Smectite chloritization results in theformation of a disordered mixed-layer mineral comprising smectite layers and layers with interlayer spacespartially filled with aluminum polyhydroxycations and Ca2+ cations. A discrete phase of soil chlorite has notbeen formed during one year of the experiment.
